Job Description

Position Overview

This role will have responsibility for supporting the company’s core business applications, which includes but is not limited to its Energy Trading and Risk Management platform, Accounting and Financial Reporting platform, Dynamics GP, its application virtualization and publishing platform, Citrix.  This person will assist and act as a backup resource to the application support leads for each application. This person will work closely with other members of the Information Technology team and external application developers and vendors to ensure application availability and performance across production and test environments. The role requires basic project management skill set and will be required to project coordinate projects independently.

Responsibilities

  • Application Support
    • Manage Application User Accounts and Security in adherence with company risk and accounting policies
    • Provide prioritized end user support to front, mid and back office staff while tracking issues and requests through ticket tracking system
    • Assist in maintaining detailed documentation including application workflows, source code, database queries, business processes and procedures
    • Understand and execute database queries and processes in effort of reporting, data management and application integration efforts
  • Project Management & Communication
    • Interface and align with other contributing members of Information Technology team to coordinate the effective support and implementation of business applications
    • Prepare communications and documentation for application end users notifying of system maintenance, patches, and upgrades
    • Clearly articulate and drive the issue resolution process through ticket updates and direct user contact
    • Manage work break down structures and project expectations
       
  • Testing
    • Assist in the development of application test plans and perform application patch management
    • Assist in the maintenance of Test, UAT, and Dev application environments and refresh on demand or as scheduled to meet business requirements and patch/upgrade life cycles


Required Skills

  • Education
    • Candidates have typically obtained a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field - or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Business
    • Strong knowledge of power and/or gas energy trading industry
    • Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting operations
    • Experience with enterprise trading and risk management, and accounting and financial reporting software
    • Delivery of services in a 24x7x365 environment
  • Application Support
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL tools including SSMS, SSRS, and SSIS
    • Understanding of relational database models and design with ability to write simple to complex SQL queries
    • Experience with SharePoint online, Dynamics GP, Adapt2, or ETRM systems preferred
    • Ability to deploy applications and application services in Windows Server environment
    • Strong understanding of Windows desktop operating systems to support and troubleshoot end user applications
    • Excellent critical thinking and analysis, verbal and written communications, and interpersonal interactions skills
  • Project Management
    • Desire and aptitude to learn and understand project management methodologies
    • Project management certifications preferred (CAPM, PMP, or other relevant certifications)
  • General
    • Over 3 years’ experience in business application support and systems
    • Highly motivated self-starter with an ability to proactively communicate issues, status, questions, and knowledge
    • A creative, innovative approach to problem solving
    • Able to work independently or on a team and exhibit excellent multi-tasking skills
    • Willing to travel to fulfill business requirements
    • Able to manage time and work well under pressure
    • Competency in Visio, Excel, Word, and MS Project
    • Strong customer service skills
