Diversified, large and stable company in central Houston seeks experienced Tax Manager to $160K.  Strong work/life balance and flexibility


Our client is a well respected and very diverse company headquartered in Houston.  The portfolio contains on and offshore oil and gas properties that are operated and non-operated, retail, real estate, aviation, ranching etc.

  • Returns include SCorp, Partnership, Individual, Trusts, Gift Tax, Foreign, etc.
  • Manage 4 person tax team
  • Prepare complex returns and review work of the tax team
  • Liaison with Accounting Department, In-house Estate Attorney and Family Members to provide information 
  • Maintain Tax Calendar, tracking of information delivered/due dates, etc.
  • Research for Individual, Trust, Partnership, SCorp and Oil and Gas Taxation
  • Record journal entries quarterly for Tax Basis Financial Statements – adjustments and estimates, oil and gas tax depletion, etc.
  • Assist CFO as needed on special projects, back-up cash management, report preparation, HR approvals, etc.


  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or similar financial degree
  • CPA in good standing, required
  • Masters in Tax, preferred but not required
  • Experience managing a tax team
  • Willingness to assume a managerial role that still does a lot of compliance work
  • GL experience very helpful

Previous experience: 

  • Seven to ten years plus experience in Private Client Service Practice for large/mid-market firm or Local/Region firm with experience in Private Client Service
  • Previous experience should include preparation of 1040s, Partnership and SCorp returns (Federal & State) and Franchise Tax returns (required)
  • Experience with Estates and Gift Tax returns preferred but not required
  • Some experience or exposure to oil and gas taxation (not required)
  • Experience researching tax matters using on-line research resources
  • Familiarity with current tax law
  • Experience in dealing with highly confidential matters
  • Highly organized
