TAX DIRECTOR

Summary:

The Tax Director, as a team member of the Tax Department, will provide support and expertise in all areas of all areas of tax including federal, state and international income taxes, accounting for income taxes, tax planning and research, return preparation and audit defense. In addition, it will provide guidance and support for all indirect tax functions.

Responsibilities:

This position will report directly to the VP -- Tax. The tax director will be responsible for developing and establishing tax processes for the entire enterprise.

This position is responsible for overseeing income tax planning and accounting for taxes, working with internal and external stakeholders to manage all reporting obligations including federal, state, and international income tax compliance. In addition, the position is responsible for supporting corporate transactions, including provision of technical tax advice and research and providing detailed guidance regarding tax accounting requirements.

  • Performing accounting for income taxes ASC 740.
  • Reviewing transfer pricing structuring and management fee arrangements.
  • Coordinating with consultants to establish proper valuation for ad valorem taxes and ensuring the timely filing of returns.
  • Providing information to tax consultants.
  • Managing audits of federal and state income tax and state and local filings.
  • Bring in-house any schedules, tax filings etc. as appropriate.
  • Serving as liaison with operating management and accounting staff on tax issues.
  • Providing tax support on acquisition due diligence.
  • Researching tax issues and developing tax policy statements.
  • Monitoring tax legislation (federal and state).
  • Ensuring appropriate internal controls are in place over accounting for income taxes.
  • Coordinating with compliance team the preparation and completion of federal, state, and international income tax returns, including related analysis and support.
  • Completing tax estimates.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and 10 to 15 years of relevant tax experience in a corporate environment and/or public accounting firm.
  • CPA or equivalent.
  • Strong ASC 740 experience.
  • Experience in local, state and federal level tax reporting and compliance.
  • Experience with transfer pricing preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical, technical and interpersonal skills. Must be a team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and proactively.
  • Highly organized with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities with strong sense of discretion, professionalism and good judgment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
