Job Description

We are seeking a System Administrator for contract to hire opportunity in West Houston.  This role focuses on server management in both public cloud and dedicated server environments.  The organization provides SAAS capabilities for its clients around the organizations applications including hosting and database management for the cloud applications.  The successful individual will have experience providing support, delivery, and strategic implementation of the Microsoft Technology Stack and associated products working alongside infrastructure and development teams. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Managing and maintaining the operational integrity and security servers.


• Proactive monitoring and problem solving including performance tuning of windows servers


• Working with development teams, customer and client support, and management on tactical issue resolutions, proactive server management, and strategic planning and delivery of associated projects


• Working with third party data center and vendors


• Strong Systems Administration skill set in a Windows-based environment


• Strong experience of working with Microsoft IIS


• Experience providing Disaster Recovery planning, support and execution

REQUIREMENTS:


•  3+ years of hands on Windows Server support and administration experience


•  College Degree or equivalent work experience  


• Excellent knowledge of Windows Server


• Understanding of Networking : TCP/IP, Sub-netting and Firewall Technologies


• Some experience with Private and/or Public Cloud infrastructures


• SCOM monitoring expertise


• Excellent skill set of hardware & software performance monitoring


• Experience working with IIS Webserver


• Experience working with VMware


• Experience installing applications on VM’s


• Experience monitoring server health, applications, and databases on servers.


• Experience with SAN’s and specific expertise working with LUNs and space allocation


• Experience of administering MS SQL Server Database server installations


• An excellent understanding of security ‘best practices’ and principles


• Excellent teamwork skills, flexibility, and the ability to handle and lead multiple tasks


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills


• Strong time management skills—the ability to balance high quality work standards against time constraints

Preferred but not required:


• SQL Database experience including: database installations, monitoring database size and allocation, SQL analysis skills (training available), indexing, troubleshooting, log and temp file management and sizing availability.


• Experience of administering and monitoring MS SQL Server


• Associated Certifications desired but not required
