Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for the preparation of the SEC filings (mainly 10-Q/10-K) and the monthly external financial reporting process for two related party publicly traded energy companies located in Houston, Texas. Accountabilities will include: compiling supporting schedules, coordinating information from others and maintaining a complete reference binder that ties to final report; preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow statements and other financial reports; coordinating and compiling support for quarterly and annual SEC reporting; assist in coordination and adherence to SOX 404 requirements. Additional responsibilities will include: coordinating and compiling external audit requests; completing ad hoc requests, and; additional duties as assigned to more evenly distribute the workload.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 4+ years of experience in Accounting required
  • 2+ years of SEC experience, in public accounting assisting SEC clients or in a corporate SEC department required
  • 2+ years of Sarbanes Oxley 404 experience required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle Financials or other enterprise resource system preferred
  • Experience with complex general ledger typically found in a mid to large sized organization preferred
  • Public Accounting experience with a Big 4 Firm preferred
  • Solid accounting and financial reporting knowledge
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft office suite required
  • Advanced Spreadsheet and report writing applications skills
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written required
  • High degree of attention to details
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills

  • Flexible, team oriented and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Active participation in preparation and review of financial reports and SEC filings on form 10-K and 10-Q
  • Compiles 10-Q / 10-K support schedules and footnotes, coordinates information from others and maintains a complete reference binder that ties to the final report
  • Assist in analysis of financial results for quarterly MD&A disclosures
  • Preparation of non-GAAP reconciliations and disclosures for the Annual Report
  • Work closely with the Accounting Department to assemble and analyze financial data
  • Responsible for keeping current with accounting, SEC and industry developments and analyzing the impact to the Company
  • Assist in preparation of detailed variance analysis of Company results
  • Assist in completion of quarterly financial statement disclosure checklists and prepare required new disclosures as needed
  • Coordinates, ties out and maintains the XBRL tagging processes, reviewing and updating as needed
  • Work directly with independent auditors for their audit and reviews of SEC filings
  • Maintain all supporting documentation related to annual audit and quarterly financial reviews to support financial statements and footnotes
  • Assist in preparation of summaries and analysis for audit committee presentations
  • Assists with Sox 404 compliance
  • Complete ad hoc requests for financial information
  • Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress, concerns and questions
  • Preparation of quarterly memorandums as assigned by supervisor

  • Accurate and timely completion of 10-K and 10-Q forms to meet SEC requirements
