Growing, stable and diverse energy company in central Houston seeks strong Revenue or Senior Revenue Accountant


Our client is a growing organization with interesting and diverse investments.  The company has a positive, friendly culture and room to grow.  They offer a 40 hour work week with flexible hours.  They are looking for a collaborative team player who wants a role where you have the chance to think and not to just process revenue.  The company has on and off shore properties and operated and non-operated wells.  This is a unique role with a lot of opportunity.

The Senior Revenue Accountant is responsible for assisting the Accounting Department in the Revenue accounting functions: Revenue close, state reporting (Colorado, New Mexico & Texas), Severance tax reporting, state audit and compliance.

Major Responsibilities/Activities

  • Book revenue and royalty payables for company operated and outside operated domestic oil and gas leases
  • File MMS reporting, and Southern UTE and Navajo severance tax return
  • Responsible for DR 21 estimate and assist in filing Colorado severance tax return
  • Reconcile accounts receivable balances resulting from revenue bookings
  • Perform operating allocations (gas/ngl) from sales point to well head
  • Responsible for state audit
  • Interacting with other departments such as marketing accounting, production accounting, and the land department in order to ensure that the proper revenue is recorded each month
  • Trend analyses and explanation of large swings in the revenue bookings
  • Additional tasks as assignment, including potential simultaneous multiple projects
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile monthly GL accounts
  • Reconciling accounts receivable balances resulting from revenue bookings
  • Prepare monthly reports for management


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 4-8 years oil and gas accounting experience with industry knowledge and terminology required
  • Exposure to severance tax, state/federal royalty regulatory filings preferred
  • Previous experience in small to mid-size company preferred
  • Accounting reconciliation experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skill preferred
  • Attention to detail required
  • Proficiency in Excel, and Word
  • Mergers and Acquisition experience is a plus
  • Must be a team player and be a self-starter
