Job Description

SUMMARY:  A large Houston energy company is seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to join their team for a 6 month project with the potential to be extended. The engineer is responsible for consulting, designing, and deploying cyber security technologies and solutions for the entire enterprise and for business partners. As a team member, you will use your infrastructure experience and cybersecurity knowledge to serve as subject matter expert and project consultant to improve or introduce new cybersecurity capabilities that protect the organization from external and internal cybersecurity threats. 

Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: 
• Lead the migration from Microsoft TMG Proxy services to BlueCoat ProxySG, and other internet proxy services. 
• Develops and implements solutions and processes to maintain the reliability, effectiveness and efficiency of network security infrastructure components across the enterprise and associated process control environments. 
• Leads, provides subject matter expertise, and collaborates extensively with other IT asset SMEs in design, deployment and implementation of network security solutions by utilizing next generation security technologies and improving frameworks for controls and policies. 
• Collaborates with global business units to design and deploy network security solutions suited to their unique environments. 
• Analyzes network security needs and designs solutions that meet business requirements for protection, standardization, efficiency, scalability, supportability and cost-effectiveness. Contributes to lifecycle activities. 
• Transitions developed solutions to operations, including delivery of educational and training programs, and continues to provide Level 3 support. Collaborates with others to communicate change impacts to end users. 
• Follows standard change management processes and practices when introducing technical changes to the environment. 
• Develops and shares best practices with other teams. 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: 

• Occasional after hours and weekend support may be required. 
• Required to be on-call cycle. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

-Technical knowledge and experience - The role requires demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with fundamental networking concepts and infrastructure components. Building on this knowledge to employ a breadth of security technologies spanning the following areas: 
• Network security - Secure network design, firewalls, proxies, remote access and third party connectivity, network data gathering tools, traffic analysis, Process Control Network Architectures, mobility devices, cloud access 
• Microsoft TMG, BlueCoat ProxySG 
• Palo Alto Firewalls 
• User authentication mechanisms 

-Must have skills: Proxy Server experience - Microsoft TMG (Bluecoat proxy will be acceptable if does not have TMG), Palo Alto Firewall, Active directory, DNS. 
-Nice to have: IPS experience and APT Technology experience. 

-bachelors degree not required, but candidates needs at least a High School Diploma. and solid experience.
