Job Description

Position Description:

  • Accounting Policy & Compliance role for a region of Petroleum Products pipelines and terminals

  • Review and analysis of quarterly and annual FERC Form 6 reports

  • Participation in regulatory audits (FERC & National Energy Board)

  • Preparation and filing of regulatory reports required by the National Energy Board

  • Liaison between Auditors,  Managers,  and Divisional Controller for all internal & external audit requests  including joint venture audits

  • Assist with implementation of new/updated SOX controls and provide training as needed

  • Perform research and analysis of complex accounting transactions and consult with Corporate technical accounting as needed

  • Assist Divisional Controller and Managers with complex accounting questions

  • Assist Divisional Controller with roll out and training of accounting policies/practices

  • Assist Divisional Controller with acquisition/major projects integration within Accounting

  • Ad hoc and special projects and analysis as needed


Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

CPA/MBA preferred


  • At least 7-10 years previous accounting or finance related work experience

  • Strong Analytical skills

  • Strong Communication skills

  • Knowledge of the new revenue recognition and lease accounting standards, including experience with implementing such new standards is a plus

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Must be self- motivated and detail oriented

  • Must be able to successfully perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and often with strict deadlines, while maintaining a high quality of work product

  • Ability to work overtime during high volume periods

  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others

  • Ability to work well in a team and/or with limited supervision

  • Good at prioritizing and planning multiple tasks and meeting deadlines

  • Must possess strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and demonstrate an understanding of FASB’s Accounting Standards Codification.
