GLOBAL TAX MANAGER - INDIRECT TAX

General Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Tax, the Indirect Tax Manager has primary responsibility for the operation of indirect tax processes for the business segment through the responsibilities outlined below. Salary to $90,000.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that business segment's indirect tax policies, procedures and controls are complete, accurate and compliant with evolving legislation 
  • Participate in system design, maintenance, and implementation to ensure compliance, enhance efficiency, and minimize expense.
  • Develop and implement contracting guidelines related to indirect taxes.
  • Proactively team with corporate tax team regarding tax technical issues and best practices.
  • Help develop and implement indirect tax planning strategies for the business segment while supporting strategic operating goals.
  • Assist in identifying indirect tax audit risks, solutions and opportunities to mitigate risk.
  • Provide day to day tactical guidance regarding sales and use tax classifications, exemptions and systems usage and develop and conduct training for segment operations. 
  • Ensure that Segment Finance provides documentation required for the Corporate Tax Department to prepare accurate indirect filings for sales & use tax, business license tax, unclaimed property, gross receipts tax and state business registrations. 
  • Assist in tax due diligence related to segment M&A and reorganizations including post-transaction integration 
  • Manage expectations related to project scope and processes to achieve the promised solutions.
  • Perform contract and tender reviews involving cross border taxation elements and provide indirect tax advice.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance from an accredited college/university.
  • Advanced Degree in Taxation preferred.
  • CPA required.
  • 7 years of progressively complex state and local indirect tax experience.
  • Experience leading indirect systems projects (Sales/Use and VAT) or other project management experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of Vertex Sales Tax software a plus.
  • Awareness of current indirect tax developments; understanding of key indirect tax processes and data drivers.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Understanding of the end-to-end business process and accounting flows.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities at the same time.
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills with ability to communicate technical subjects to a non-tax audience.
  • Deadline driven, with strong focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
