Job Description

SUMMARY

The Director of Human Resources will primarily be responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resources business partners and will also be the lead HR business partner for the organization. This will include the implementation and administration of corporate HR strategies, employee engagement and retention, employee relations/investigations, labor relations, Payroll, Benefits, and HR legal activities. This position is the head of Human Resources and will have 3 to 5 direct reports who oversee all aspects of HR.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Annually review and make recommendations for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.
  • Prepare budgetary recommendations for the functional areas of responsibility.
  • Serve as the primary source for the HR portion of the merger, acquisition and divestiture due diligence, analysis and implementation process.
  • Ensure that the company is in compliance with all HR regulatory guidelines to include policies, procedures, record keeping and reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for all aspects of employee and labor relations activities working with the HR generalist and management staff at all levels to conduct exit interviews, address complaints and grievances
  • Responsible for  planning, development, organization, and implementation of all other aspects of the HR function to include strategic planning, compensation, human resource information systems, benefits, employment, and payroll administration.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Experienced based knowledge of human resource policy, federal employment law and HR related programs including but not limited to Title VII, FLSA, EEO, FMLA, ADA, etc. with an ability to develop and implement effective HR strategies
  • Individual should be a strategic planner with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and a strong operational focus.
  • Must possess the ability to relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses good communication skills.  
  • An excellent facilitator who is experienced in resolving conflicts between different parties to a dispute.
  • A decisive individual with high ethical standards, an appropriate professional image and a detail oriented perspective.
  • Proficient with standard computer skills (e.g., generating spreadsheets, Word documents, complex PowerPoint presentations; and writing and executing reports using standard report writers).

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or a related field required. Professional certification at SPHR level and a MS/MBS preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of related experience and/or training
  • Experience in all aspects of the human resource management function with direct responsibility for organization development in a company of similar or larger size with multi-site, multi-state and multi-functional operations, preferably in the Energy industry.
  • Working / Hands on knowledge of the ADP suite.
  • Bi-lingual (English / Spanish is a strong plus
