Job Description

SUMMARY:  A large long time established Houston company is seeking an experienced IT Operations leader to join their team in a sr leadership role.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Director – IT Operations directs the activities of the team supporting IT Infrastructure.  This position is responsible for managing a large team and the annual budget associated. 

The areas that make up the IT infrastructure are the following:

  • Data Center operations for both the primary data center and the Co-Location data center.  This includes the management of all servers (physical and virtual), storage (physical and virtual), power, and networking equipment.
  • Wide Area Network (WAN) support for all locations
  • Data and Voice communication, including mobile device support across all locations
  • Local Area Network (LAN) support for all locations
  • Desktop and printing support for all locations
  • Database management for all on-premises systems
  • Service Desk management, including the ticketing system and customer support process
  • Disaster Recovery (DR) planning and implementation
  • IT infrastructure on all vessels
  • Provide leadership to the IT Operations team
  • Manage team personnel, including performance reviews and salary administration for the IT Operations team
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with internal and external audit partners to perform IT and SOX audits
  • Develop and maintain relationships with IT vendors, including Cisco, VMWare, Oracle, Microsoft, CDW, and NetApp
  • Manage project accounting, including the creation of purchase orders and the handling of vendor invoices
  • Work with other IT Directors (Software Development and Business Applications) as necessary
  • Develop and manage the IT Operations annual budget

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 10+ years of IT leadership experience
  • Hands-on experience in at least one area of IT infrastructure (data communication, WAN/LAN administration, etc…), preferably in a public company
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated budget management responsibility
  • Vendor management experience
