Job Description


A Houston based organization is seeking to add a Business Intelligence Manager to join their team. This role will be responsible for leading the design and support of enterprise wide business intelligence applications and architecture. Works with enterprise business and IT senior management to understand and prioritize data, information and visualization requirements. Solves complex technical problems. Optimizes performance of enterprise business intelligence tools by defining filter and index that add value to the user. Creates testing methodology and criteria. Designs and coordinates a curriculum for coaching and training customers in the use of business intelligence tools to enhance business decision-making capability. Develops standards, policies, and procedures for the form, structure and attributes of the business intelligence tools and systems. Designs and develops systems and tools for structuring/organizing, storing, retrieving, analyzing and reporting data. Develops data/information quality metrics. Researches new technology and develops business cases to support and sustain enterprise wide business intelligence platform.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop the enterprise’s capacity to develop insights from analytics
  2. Create, publish and maintain the corporate information architecture and a roadmap for its future development
  3. Measure master data and reference data for compliance to policy, standards and models
  4. Develop, maintain and support data warehouses and data marts structure for the company
  5. Recommend Master Data Management practices for the corporation
  6. Manage Business Intelligence projects including:
  • Understanding the business problem, needs and process
  • Managing the scope, schedule and budget
  • Manage expectations of stakeholders
  • Translate business goals and needs into data management, analytics functions and requirements
  • Assess if data is fit for use
  1. Create conceptual, logical and physical data models
  2. Collaborate with other IT and non-IT groups in data integration and enterprise information management to support reuse
  3. Oversee the day-to-day running of all business intelligence tools and assets, including enforcing policies, maintaining systems and responding to user requests
  4. Ensure system delivers consistently on the service level agreements
  5. Troubleshooting, applying patches, dealing with exceptions and escalating problems

Experience in visualization or BI platform tools (including more than one of the following):

  • OBIEE
  • Power BI
  • Spotfire
  • Tableau
  • Microstrategy
  • Cognos
  • Crystal Reports
  • Microsoft BI - SSAS
  • Hyperion

  • Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica ;
  • Comprehensive understanding of various data analytics techniques

Strong inter-personal skills and a diplomatic approach, to earn the respect of business leaders throughout the company, including:

  • Ability to think strategically about the risk profile and security solutions

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Math or educational equivalent.
  • 10 years IT related experience including 6 years supervisory or management experience.
  • Superior interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Superior understanding of current applications and trends in IT.
