Subsurface/Reservoir Application Support Specialist

This position is for an experienced Subsurface/Reservoir Application Support Specialist to provide in-depth technical support to our geoscientists and reservoir engineers in the use of applications, with a strong focus on Landmark DSG and Aries.   The candidate needs to have good skillsets in multiple areas of support (Geology, Geophysics, Reservoir Engineering, Reservoir Modeling), and can also adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Analyzing and troubleshooting Landmark DSG and Aries technical support issues. Taking ownership of support issues, working independently and/or collaboratively with other team members as needed, providing timely resolution or workarounds and escalation as appropriate.
  • Partnering with GeoTechs to provide optimal support levels and response based on evolving needs and priorities
  • Working closely with other teams across EPE as well as vendor support to provide other Petrotechnical application support.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering or Computer Science related discipline) or 10 years of relevant G&G application support experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of end-user support experience with Landmark DSG and Aries
  • Strong IT background, with an emphasis on SQL skills both for Oracle and SQL Server environments as well as working knowledge of ETL and reporting technologies (SSIS, PowerBI, Spotfire)
  • Knowledge of other applications such as Petra, OpenWorks, Petrel, GeoGraphix, classic Landmark applications, LogARC, etc.
  • Knowledge of fracture and reservoir simulation tools such as GOHFER,  CMG/GEM, and others
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS, Portal, and FME
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as Citrix as well as experience supporting virtual desktop environments
  • Working knowledge of subsurface data management best practices
  • Working knowledge of interpretation and modeling workflows including 2D/3D seismic interpretation/visualization, gridding, mapping, well correlation, time-to-depth conversion, volumetrics, attributes analysis, structural, property and velocity modeling
  • Demonstrated effective analytical and independent problem-solving skills, with a responsive and customer-focused mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to solve technically complex problems independently, can organize and contribute to collaborative team efforts to solve issues. Manages time and priorities effectively.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be a team player, proactive, take responsibility and accountability, collaborate well within and across teams, work effectively and cooperatively with peers, customers, vendors, and management.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to build relationships, be able to leverage subject matter experts share best practices and knowledge, and provide mentorship to others.
