Role & Essential Functions:

The Accounting Manager position is located in the downtown Houston Texas office.  This position will report directly to the Director of Finance and have visibility to the CFO. 

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for:

  • Assisting and coordinating the monthly close process and prepare the IS, BS, and SCF
  • Preparing financial and operational reporting materials to distribution to investor groups
  • Applying analytical skills to interpret financial and operational metrics and effectively communicate findings 
  • Working with cross functional support teams on resolutions and improvements
  • Performing weekly financial performance forecasts
  • Reviewing and monitoring costs inherent in the business
  • Point of contact for debt holders and responsible for quarterly covenant compliance calculations
  • Coordinating deliverables to external tax preparers for the preparation of federal and state tax returns
  • Coordinating and actively assisting with the annual audit and prepare the audited financial statements and related footnote disclosures
  • Preparing ad-hoc financial reporting and analytical reports on an as-needed basis
  • Working with FP&A Director on regular budget to actual variances
  • Facilitating implementation of new accounting software (NetSuite) and integration with new financial planning software

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented and passionate about diving deep into data and developing insights to drive better business results.  Attention to detail and accuracy will be essential to the role in preparing financial statements and deliverables as well as analyzing patterns and trends in the data.

Required Skills:

  • BA Degree in accounting preferred (CPA a plus)
  • 5+ years’ experience in accounting, including 2 years in a managerial capacity
  • Previous Big Four or other audit firm experience a plus
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Quickbooks and NetSuite accounting systems
