Corporate Accountant

SUMMARY

General Ledger and Sub ledger expert, with strong accounting background and following/implementing internal controls.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Review, analyze and prepare monthly journal entries for month end close, including accruals, revenue recognition, amortizations, cost allocations and any other that may be required.
  2. Reconcile monthly accounts by way of preparing balance sheet reconciliations for various legal entities and provide explanations for unusual balances.
  3. Assist in the preparation of corporate charge allocations, including insurance, etc.
  4. Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  5. Provide support for the internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules and support documentation as required for designated accounts, and providing explanations as needed.
  6. Assist in reviewing and implementing accounting and control procedures as necessary to meet established company goals and comply with regulatory standards.
  7. Communicate with local management to explain variances and prepare for closing accruals.
  8. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  9. Can perform cutoff testing for revenue and expenses.
  10. Ability to train others on the ERP software and accrual method accounting.
  11. Other responsibilities include: monitoring and handling intercompany transactions, cash management, bank reconciliations, recording fixed asset acquisitions and other specific requests as required to support the department.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's in Accounting from an accredited university is preferred.
  • Audit experience preferred.
  • 3 - 7 years total accounting experience.
  • Proficient in business related software: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. Strong knowledge of MS office with advance MS Excel skills required.
  • Experience with ERP software: NetSuite or other integrated accounting software experience preferred.

Travel may be required. Office located in Southwest Houston.
