DESCRIPTION:
Our client is headquartered in Houston, and is a successful, growing and financially stable energy company with great benefits. They have a dynamic revenue accounting team, and are looking for a new Supervisor.
This role will manage a team of 10. The function manages and supervises the revenue accounting department to achieve goals within available resources; plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff; and reviews progress and directs changes as needed.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Manage day-to-day responsibilities and processing of all oil & gas revenue transactions
- Review monthly revenue check-write process
- Manage and review PPA process and PPA log
- Approve State royalty and tax reports and payments
- Proactively interact with Accounting and Operations to understand various data needs and requests; problem solve and provide data accurately and efficiently
- Be a key point of contact to resolve issues, both within the Accounting department and to Operations
- Actively coach and develop staff by answering questions, assisting with process changes and enhancements, knowledge sharing and providing open communication
- Actively manage and monitor employees’ goals and performance, provide constant feedback on a daily basis and understand each employee’s development needs and learning style
- Actively manage and monitor team goals
- Review and maintain all revenue-related SOX controls; participate in all controls testing by both internal and external auditors
- Review and manage all internal and external revenue accounting audit requests
- Draft, review and maintain all revenue-related accounting policies and procedures
- Approve employees’ vacation and sick time requests
- Support company vision and mission
- Other duties, as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree, ideally in Accounting
10+ years oil and gas revenue/royalty accounting experience
Supervisory experience required
