Job Description

Our North area manufacturing client is seeking a tenured HR Generalist for their corporate headquarters. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the HR/Payroll Manager in supporting designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, on-boarding, 401(k), FMLA administration, COBRA administration, rewards program & recruiting. This position reports directly to the Human Resources and Payroll Manager.

Essential Functions

  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Manages and updates database with new and changing information; ensures accuracy and integrity of information.
  • Prepares and maintains employee files.
  • Runs reports from employee database as requested.
  • Files documents into appropriate employee files; performs paper and system audits as necessary.
  • Enters data into HRIS system ensuring the accuracy of information.
  • Manages the onboarding process for new-hires.
  • Processes new-hire, status change and termination paperwork.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
  • Manages employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
  • Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA for all states.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
  • Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
  • Ensures the benefits annual enrollment process runs smoothly.
  • Effectively provide necessary reports for allocation/billing charges for Health & Welfare and Retirement.Effectively take the lead on the annual 401(k) audit and Non Discrimination Testing for Union & Non Union
  • Effectively take the lead on the annual 401(k) audit and Non Discrimination Testing for Union & Non Union
  • Effectively take the lead on the annual FSA Non Discrimination Testing


Candidate should be capable of executing complex assignments requiring the use of advanced techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods. May develop and evaluate plans for projects. May assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient or testing is advisable. Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members. Regularly meets and corresponds with employees or outside personnel.

Required Education and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree and eight years of Human Resources experience

• Experience using ADP/UltiPro software.

 • Proficient in MS Office products, Excel, Word, & Power Point.

Preferred Education and Experience

• PHR or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification
