Job Description

SUMMARY:  A large Houston healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Business Analyst with specific understanding of Epic to join their team for a 7 month project with a strong option to be extended.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Able to independently gather and document testing script and tracker refinements. Provide expertise in complex system integration testing, quality review and issue resolution activities. 
- Assists in identifying the refinements to epic application scripting from Epic source system with target systems and actively determines trackable solutions. 
- Analyzes, gathers, and documents requirements for Epic application testing between applications and with target systems. 
- Converts requirements into comprehensive detailed design specifications (integration, databases, data flows, transformations, interfaces, reports, etc.) for solutions. 
- Documents processes and templates using appropriate standardized documentation. 
- Planning, development, and execution of testing efforts. 
- Identifies, recommends and incorporates quality assurance and risk mitigation activities into testing processes and documentation. 
- Has a fundamental understanding of Epic core applications and an analytical mind. 


Provides business analysis leadership for testing initiatives. 
- Serves as a primary testing resource to conduct testing of the epic application modules with the system analysts, the Interface team and 3rd party systems. 
- Attends and contributes at regular meetings with project teams and interface staff. 
- Reviews, updates integration scripts to support test patient preparation activities in advance of testing cycles. 
- Seeks input from other resources and/or vendor input to resolve application issues when appropriate. 
- Follows standards for testing documentation and tracking. 
- Participates in the development/refinement of testing plans between testing cycles. 
- Supports Testing Coordinator with QA and tracking during testing cycles. 


Performs and/or assists in activities related to the assessment, implementation, and support of testing related data integration activities. - Performs process analysis, including feasibility studies, functional requirements analysis and review, detail design reviews, and process workflows. 
- Performs comprehensive testing activities including creating test plans, strategies and both developing and executing test scripts. 
- Assists in development of strategies, policies, procedures and standards. 
- Coordination and adherence to functional and technical development, configuration of process standards . 
- Assists with issue resolution and risk mitigation. 
- Communicates problems / issues that may arise in determining solution feasibility and alternatives to the project manager or manager. 
- Maintains effective relationships with customers, vendors, project team members and management.
- May review and test training materials in conjunction with the training coordinator and analysts. 
- Provides positive feedback to team members when they make a positive contribution. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

EDUCATION REQUIRED 
Bachelor's degree. 

CERTIFICATION 
None 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 
Three years experience with Epic software, business, testing and systems analysis. May substitute require education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis or completed years of college on a one to one basis. 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE 
Experience in Epic application usage, especially Prelude/Grand Central, Cadence, Ambulatory, Inpatient and Orders. 
Training background useful. 
Three years of equivalent scope and role in healthcare applications (hospitals) 
Experience working in and a well-rounded knowledge of the electronic medical record IT environment. 
Experience with application testing (preparation, execution), team coordination
